Nestled on a corner lot in the scenic Alpine Meadows neighbourhood of Whistler, BC, this contemporary family home balances integration with its surroundings and individual identity. Designed as a complementary counterpart to the adjacent neighbour, it is a year-round residence for an active young family with breathtaking panoramic mountain views from its spacious living areas. The angular design maximizes the connection to the outdoors, featuring an expansive column-free deck that seamlessly integrates with the landscape, perfect for both relaxation and entertaining.
Innovative solutions, such as steel and Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) construction, were employed to address design challenges like height restrictions, large overhangs, and maintaining the pristine views from the neighboring property. This home’s upper floor includes the main living areas, family bedrooms, and a sleek outdoor deck with a fireplace, hot tub, and TV area for ultimate comfort and enjoyment in every season. The lower level provides versatile spaces, including a foyer, office, media room, guest rooms, and an attached garage.

The protective shell of the home is clad in dark charcoal standing seam metal, complemented by carved facets of stained horizontal cedar, adding texture and warmth to the exterior. The interior design reflects a balance of warmth, beautiful materials and detailing, and durability, ideal for the family’s active lifestyle. A seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces is achieved through the use of wood-look tile on the deck, mirroring the hardwood floors inside. The soaring wood ceiling extends both indoors and outdoors, enhancing the connection between the spaces.
