ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGIST

We are looking for an Architectural Technologist or Intern Architect with a minimum of 3 years post-graduation work experience for a full time position. The successful candidate will be capable of working independently, on multiple projects, within a collaborative environment. We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record with moving projects through the permitting and construction drawing phases.

Description of Position:

Produce permit drawing sets in conformance with BCBC, VBBL and municipal zoning bylaws.
Develop building details
Prepare Contract Documents
Coordinate Architectural drawings with consultants (Structural, Geotechnical etc.)
Coordinate specifications with drawings

We are looking for:

A positive and friendly attitude, independent worker
Flexible and creative: able to visualize the end goal
Diploma or Degree in Architecture/Building Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution
Minimum 3 years experience working in Canada
Solid understanding of local building codes, and an ability to analyze municipal zoning bylaws, with emphasis on the City of Vancouver.
Knowledge of building details, building envelopes and building performance in a coastal climate.
Many of our buildings are spatially complex, and we require applicants to have excellent spatial-reasoning skills.
Proficiency in CAD is mandatory for this position (Vectorworks preferred)
Sketch Up experience is highly desirable
Experience with V-Ray or other rendering software is an asset
Ability to interpret conceptual sketches and problem-solve technical detailing
in order to maintain the integrity of the design intent
Ability to work independently, and as a collaborative team member
Candidates must be able to legally work in Canada, and must be either registered with the AIBC, or eligible to be registered in the province of BC.

JUNIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER

We are currently seeking a talented and energetic Graduate Interior Designer or Junior Interior Designer to assist on multiple interiors packages under the guidance of the project lead. Candidates must be able to legally work in Canada.

Responsibilities would include:
– Design story and visioning boards;
– Sample compilation;
– Finishes selection and review with project lead;
– Fixture specifications with project lead;
– Furniture, Accessories, Artwork selection;
– Assistance with 3D modelling (sketchup)
– Drafting millwork and interior elevations;
– Drafting RCP plans, flooring, key plans;
– Drafting interior details;
– Coordination between Architectural and Interiors;
– Attend Client meetings with project lead;

Skills that our office is looking for:
– Proficiency in CAD drafting is mandatory. Our office uses Vectorworks on Mac, but experience with this particular software is not a requirement;
– Sketchup 3D modelling;
– Interior Design degree or diploma;
– Strong design sensibility and flexibility in design perspective;
– Very good to excellent written and oral communication;
– Excellent organizational skills;
– Interest in modern architecture;
– Positive and proactive approach to design;

The successful candidate will receive direct mentorship from senior designers / Architects and will also share their particular talent and expertise with the firm. Our projects are complex and challenging, providing high levels or work satisfaction.
